Telling the truth is a public service.
If you are a blogger, a writer or just a concerned citizen, and you see a significant number of democrats contemplating what you honestly believe to be a disaster, what are you supposed to do?
Do you speak up at the risk of offending people you care about? Do you risk losing friends by speaking the truth as you see it, or remain silent and let the disaster unfold?
You know my answer.
The following are indisputable, undeniable, irrefutable facts. I say and have said some harsh things about Hillary. My intent is not to be mean, only factual. I take no joy in being harsh. My one and only intent is to tell the truth as I see it as best I possibly can. If it weren’t all so damned important, I wouldn’t be yappin’ at ya about it (bear in mind I know this hurts and I’m sorry):
Hillary is a multi-millionaire one percenter.
She is closely tied to Wall Street and the Military Establishment.
She has been paid millions in speaking fees from the likes of Goldman Sachs.
She has raised millions from mega-corporations including the Pharmaceutical, Insurance and Fossil Fuel Industries.
She has raised millions for the Clinton foundation from the Saudis and other foreign powers.
She has come out against single-payer universal health care.
She has attacked Bernie for being too liberal.
She speaks of taxes like a republican.
She is widely known to be a war hawk.
She voted to authorize the Invasion of Iraq, the biggest foreign policy blunder in U.S. History and an unmitigated disaster that continues to unfold in the Middle East to this day costing hundreds of thousands of innocent lives and trillions of dollars that could have been used to help the American people and alleviate human suffering, not cause more of it.
She has been closely associated with human rights/military disasters in Colombia, Honduras, Iraq, Libya and Syria. Calling it CT or RW slander doesn’t make it so. It’s well documented history.
She is calling for more war, not less.
Google any of those things for all the proof you need.
Those are facts. I know they're tough to swallow. A lot of people want us to turn a blind eye. Why would we? And what price would we pay?
How could any peace-loving person support this?
The following are opinions, but opinions based on the aforementioned facts:
HRC is a defender and proponent of the status quo, not a challenger of it.
She is beholden to the very same powerful special interests we have all seen undermine our democracy and corrupt our government.
She is determined to broaden and intensify the world war that is developing.
She does not want peace. Nothing could be clearer.
And if you fall for this whole manufactured world war, FFS. Open your eyes.
There is much more that can be said, and I've said much of it elsewhere. I'm keeping this minimalist to invite understanding.
I’m sorry to all I offend by stating the truth as I see it, but that’s all I have to offer. As much as it pains me to think about how some former friends must think of me now, my truth is all I’ve got. What would I be worth if I didn’t speak it?
What would be the value of holding my tongue to remain friendly with those who don’t share my views, if the situation is as dire as I believe it to be?
The fate of the nation and the world are more important than your feelings or mine. What happens next is more important than party unity or team spirit. This is a critical point in history like no other. This election is no doubt the most important ever. And we're not just saying that this time.
We are staring extinction in the face and those who suggest otherwise are just kidding themselves. And since this election will demonstrate/determine how seriously we are going to take climate change and the imperative of swearing off fossil fuels, bullshit wars and etcetera, it will determine the fate of humanity itself.
This election could very well mean the difference between embracing WWIII and winding it down, between reversing climate change and being ravaged by it, between being run over and raped by TPP and Citizens United and reversing those disasters, between being shed of corporate influence and being dominated by it, between feeding the war machine and bringing it to heel. If you think all that matters is a democratic victory, you need to reexamine your priorities. This election will either change the tragic trajectory of our nation or confirm it.
I can only hope that we come to our senses and do the right thing.
Since this has been an intentionally dull and matter of fact diary, I am going to include the Killer Mike video. I'm not including it because I think rap stars or celebrities or any given endorsement are what matter, but just because KM says things beautifully and well. Killer Mike himself is a joy and a wonder and a true force of nature. He makes me proud to be an Atlantan. Everyone should see this. You won't believe how moving it is. If you choose not to view it, it's your loss. In my humble opinion, of course.
